At fifteen weeks he was size of most 7-week-old Berner puppies. He had ‘petstore puppy cough,’ a persistent cough that many puppy mill puppies develop due to stress, and has had continuing irritable bowl syndrome. Fully grown, he struggles to hit 70 lbs.
Ironically, Roofus shares a grandfather (Artur Z Louccke Kotliny) with both Tazzy and Panda but is much smaller and came from South Dakota, while Tazzy is from Oklahoma, and Panda, Ohio. It’s just a glimpse at how one puppy sold into the mill system can generate so much suffering in the breed.
With his petstore days long behind him, Roofus serves as the pack court jester and seems to have a special knack for agility. Megan has been training him in agility and he has come very far from his initial jumping like a little lamb. The two are quite a team with Megan being very patient, but persistent when Roofus wants to go visit with the ring crew. They are very, very close to their first Q in AKC Jumpers Preferred.
Roofus very much enjoys being with his people. He’s the kind of dog that follows you around everywhere just to be with you.
